Girls Camp - Photo Dump

Great, amazing time at Girls Camp... if you'd like to join me through a "slideshow" you are more than welcome to scroll through the following pictures!

Instead of the Princess Pat, we sang the Princess Platt song :)

We had some "guest" news anchors

An added plus: Sarah got to come with our stake!  She had a blast and I am so glad we got to share this together!

I greatly enjoyed serving as a YCL Leader.  The young women are awesome and really stepped up to the challenge of serving as leaders to their fellow campers.  I kept saying how lucky I was to serve with them!  It was an honor and privilege.

Maybe next year???

Reflection

It was great to take the Young Women to see the temple lights this year!  I highly recommend going earlier in the holiday season.  We went the last Wednesday in November and loved being one of the few groups there.

I ran into one of my co-workers who was taking his youth group to see the lights at the same time.  The following morning we discussed the purpose behind using the temple lights as a mutual activity.  It's a question we're often asked by our leaders, "What's the purpose behind this mutual?"  We joked that it's an easy activity to plan and execute, but ultimately discussed the importance of the temple.  I believe it's important for everyone to have positive memories and experiences that surround the temple.  Even if it is just walking around with some friends to see beautiful lights, it's an experience on temple grounds.

P.S. Sorry Maggie for the cell phone pictures, hopefully on my third trip later this month, I'll get some better ones for you!

Lesson Highlights - Ability to Succeed

This past Sunday's lesson was on the Ability to Succeed.  I was super exicted for this lesson, despite feeling a bit rusty teaching.  It was an interesting lesson outline in the manual because it had little to no scripture references.  It was a great boost to my week as I read several talks about success, courage, and happiness.  I loved feeling like I was giving a huge pep talk to the Young Women.  Hurging them to try and reminding them that they are fully capable of accomplishing their dreams and goals.

We also tied the lesson into Elder Uchtdorf's amazing talk "Your Happily Ever After."  Each person can have their own happily ever after, or what we can Eternal Life.  It was great to testify to the girls that I knew that they each had a unique and wonderful story to tell.  We filled in a mad lib with our talents and hobbies.  The Little Engine that Could saying "I think I can, I think I can" was also said outloud in unison.

Oh, I think I might have mentioned that, yes, the girls can have their happily ever after, complete with their own hot husbands.  I have a hot husband, the other leaders have hot husbands, and you can, too.

Yes... I really did say that.  In fact, that's what the leaders took from it.  What did we learn today?  We all can have hot husbands.
